Safety Netting & Edge Protection

Falls from height and falling objects remain high-consequence risks in ports, industrial sites and on marine assets. We provide rope access support for safety netting and edge protection works, helping clients install, reinstate or maintain collective protection measures in locations where conventional access is slow or disruptive. The objective is simple: compliant protection, tidy installation, and a work area that can operate safely beneath it.

Safety Netting & Edge Protection

Collective protection installed with controlled access and minimal disruption.

We supply, install and inspect safety netting and temporary edge protection to control fall risks at height. From roof perimeters and mezzanines to atriums and plant decks, systems are set out to suit the structure and the workface. Where access is awkward, rope access enables discreet installation and thorough inspection without excessive scaffolding or large-area shutdowns. All checks and handover information are aligned with your RAMS and PTW controls.

Edge protection and safety netting often need attention in the places that are hardest to reach: roof edges over live areas, high gantries, atriums, underside steel, and over-water faces where access is constrained. Rope access allows technicians to work directly at fixing points and interfaces, making it possible to install or reinstate protection without extensive scaffolding — particularly useful when the scope is localised or the workfront moves in stages.

We support projects by helping access, position and secure netting systems and edge protection components to the agreed design and method, coordinating closely with the principal contractor and site control. Where the scope includes inspections or reinstatement, we can identify defects such as damaged fixings, degraded components, missing sections, or clashes with new works and provide clear close-out notes. The outcome is a safer work area that supports ongoing operations and planned maintenance without unnecessary downtime.

Typical tasks

  • Installation support for safety netting in high-level or restricted access areas (as designed/spec’d)
  • Reinstatement works after plant installs, shutdowns or façade projects
  • Repairs or replacement support for damaged netting sections and associated fixings (within scope)
  • Edge protection works to roof perimeters, platforms, walkways and temporary work areas (as specified)
  • Access support to check fixings, brackets and interfaces for condition and security
  • Debris netting / containment support in controlled zones (where appropriate)
  • Photo records and close-out notes for handover packs and site files

Assets & locations

  • Roof edges, skylight zones and fragile-surface interface areas
  • Industrial platforms, gantries, stair towers and service corridors
  • Ports and dockside structures with live traffic below
  • Atriums, high internal elevations and large-span buildings
  • Marine and dockside projects where access footprint must be kept tight
  • Refurbishment environments with moving workfronts and short windows

Safety & compliance

Collective protection work is planned under a safe system with clear control of the area below, practical exclusion zones and disciplined tool management. Rope access is set up as a complete system with two-rope protection and a workable rescue plan, and we coordinate closely with the site team so netting/edge protection interfaces don’t compromise other controls. Where the project involves temporary works or designed systems, we work to the agreed specification and handover requirements, keeping documentation and close-out evidence clear for your records.

Arrange safety netting & edge protection support

If you need netting or edge protection installed, reinstated or brought back into service in areas where access is awkward, we can support with a controlled rope access approach planned around your programme. Share the location, height, fixing details (if known), site restrictions and desired window — and we’ll come back with a practical access plan and crew recommendation.
